You will love this adorable and sustainable cottage kitchen

The Cornish coast is already one of the best places you could hope to design a dream home and kitchen. Add to that the sustainable designer deVOL and you have everything you could want in a cottage kitchen. The deVOL Pine Cottage kitchen in Cornwall is a picture of perfection for clients Becca and Damien, who met the deVOL designers when asking for kitchen tips on social media. Damien runs the U.K.’s first stand-alone zero waste barbershop, so he and Becca wanted the kitchen to be as sustainable as possible. They chose the Sebastian Cox Kitchen by deVOL, a line of kitchen furnishings that uses sustainable British timber felled by coppicing (a traditional woodland management method). Cupboards incorporate traditional craft techniques and designs with a rough bandsawn finish, sliding dovetail joints, and weave designs. The cupboards were handmade in England. The effect is a luxurious take on a rustic classic with outstanding quality.

A neutral-toned cottage kitchen.

The deVOL Curiosity Cupboard from the Shaker line mixes in a different style for a natural cottage feel. The cupboards were finished with a “natural” stain to brighten the room. Contrasting paint finishes used throughout complement the terracotta flooring. deVOL accessories finish the space with brass and copper details.

While deVOL kitchens can be pricey (starting at $25,000), no detail, not even light switches, are overlooked. The entire line is handmade to order in England by craftspeople using sustainable building methods.

One of the kitchen’s standout features is the farmhouse sink embedded in the light-colored cabinets. The vertical grain on the cabinets also lends a unique touch, as do the variety of cabinet pulls alternating with more modern holes. Even the black cabinet is painted light blue inside, bringing a peaceful atmosphere to this high-quality and eco-friendly room.
