Earth911 Inspiration: If the Bee Disappeared From Earth

Today’s quote is from Belgian author Maurice Maeterlinck, who won the 1911 Nobel Prize for Literature for his book, The Life of the Bee. In it, he wrote, “If the bee disappeared off the face of the earth, man would only have four years left to live.”

Human well-being is dependent on nature and the benefits it provides us. If we want to survive, we must protect the natural systems that keep us alive.
